Medacta, a Swiss pioneer in the field of orthopedic implants, faced numerous challenges in managing resources for orthopedic surgeries. To improve efficiency, the company decided to eliminate the laborious existing barcode system, replacing it with RFID technology.
SATO’s advanced RFID technology has been a game-changer for Medacta, making it possible to label products in one single location — the factory — and track them throughout all Medacta facilities worldwide for the entire life of the product.
RFID Phase Jitter Modulation (PJM) technology is the answer for all situations where large volumes of tagged objects need to be identified quickly and accurately, ensuring precision even when items are stacked or stored in any orientation.
Thanks to this change, Medacta achieved 100% accuracy in inventory management, because this technology enables batch reading of multiple densely stacked tags in various configurations within medical cases, while avoiding duplicate product reads. This has led to a significant improvement in Medacta’s operational efficiency, with a consequent reduction in personnel costs.
SAIT played a fundamental role with its on-site approach, which allowed the technology to be seamlessly integrated into Medacta’s existing operations, ensuring a smooth transition and effective implementation.
